10 things to check before, during, and after blinds installation in a Dubai apartment or villa — avoid common mistakes.
1. Confirm measurements. Our fitter measures every window on the home visit — but if you've purchased online, double-check width and drop before ordering. A 5mm error in width can mean the blind doesn't fit inside the recess.
2. Choose fabric in your own lighting. Fabric colours look different under showroom lighting vs. your home's LED or natural light. Ask for fabric samples brought on the visit — we always do this.
3. Decide on inside or outside recess fitting. Inside recess looks cleaner; outside recess is needed if the window is too shallow or if you want maximum light block at the edges.
4. Check building regulations. Some Dubai towers have rules about visible blind colours from outside (often white-facing only). We're familiar with most major building requirements and will advise.
5. Clear the window area. Remove curtain rails, ornaments, or furniture near the windows to give the installer clear access.
6. Check the blind operates smoothly. Test the blind up and down, left and right before the installer leaves. Motorized blinds should be confirmed working on your app before sign-off.
7. Check for light gaps. With blackout blinds, check in a darkened room for any light leak around the edges. Side channels can be added if needed.
8. Clean gently. Dubai dust accumulates. Wipe roller blind fabric with a slightly damp cloth every few months. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
9. Keep your warranty document. Our written warranty covers workmanship for 2 years and we'll reference it for any call-backs.
10. Register motorized systems. Motorized blind apps often require product registration for full warranty activation — do this within 30 days of installation.
